Dani had taken over the rec room with a stack of chick flicks. She also had plenty of popcorn, sodas, and even a bottle of wine since alcohol usually made bad movies a lot better. After a moment of hesitation, she also extended an invitation for her tenant to join her. Dani wasn't sure why, but she just didn't feel like watching movies alone.

[For the housemate! ETA: Likely to go NSFW.]

Dani had set everything up for one last pool party before the end of the summer. There were cold drinks, inflatable pool toys and a stack of beach towels. Dani figured it would be a nice way to kick off the holiday weekend. She just hadn't counted on turning into a Chihuahua before she had a chance to take a dip in the pool.

[Expecting one person in particular, but open if anyone else want to enjoy the pool! Just don't expect Dani to respond since I'm going to be AFK.]

Dani was sleepy, but there was no way in the world that she would miss watching the royal wedding. Fortified by a pot of Earl Grey tea and scones, she eagerly watched as the events took place in London. She squealed when she got her first glimpse of the handsome princes in their uniforms. Between them and David Beckham, it was worth getting up. It also didn't hurt to learn that she'd won her bets on the new title of the couple (Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) and the bride's tiara (something previously unseen from the Queen's jewelry vaults).

[Purely establishy. I couldn't resist when I saw some of the stuff Dani's PB was tweeting during the wedding.]

Dani had gone out to a club on the mainland Saturday night. She had been pretty inebriated when she stumbled back to her house, stripped out of her clothing, and fell into bed.

It was late when Dani finally woke up. Her first thought was that she needed water and aspirin. Her second thought was that, hangover or not, she really felt weird...

"What the hell?" she asked, looking down a very different body than what she remembered. Even her voice sounded a lot deeper than usual. She reached up and touched her cheek. To her horror, there was stubble under her fingertips.

"Dammit! I hate this island."

Sure, it was only Wednesday, but Dani was having a really tough week so far. She felt the need to get back to her roots. That's why she was in the living room, drinking mint juleps and watching Toddlers and Tiaras. It was nice to relive her glory days when she won Junior Miss Bay Area in the 5 to 6-year-old division, before her pageant grandmother moved on and Daddy wasn't interested in helping her compete in glitz pageants.

[Open for visitors! There's enough bourbon to go around.]

Dani was in the living and arguing with her brother on the phone. As usual when the Davis family had a discussion, things were getting pretty nasty.

"You self-serving, ungrateful jerk!" she yelled into the receiver. Okay, she may have used some stronger language than that. "I can't believe you're acting like this... You take that back! You can't get away with calling me a bi--"

Maybe the island was tired of all the name-calling, or it was just bored. Anyway, the argument was over at that point, because where Dani had been standing, there was now a female Chihuahua yapping at the where the handset had fallen.

[For the roommate, if he's around.]

Dani was in the living room with a stack of bills, her checkbook and a calculator. She was frowning as she did the math. Her winnings from the bets she'd placed on the Triple Crown races really hadn't put her that far ahead once she subtracted the cost of the subsequent shopping spree. To add to that, her business operating expenses had increased even though she was short an employee now that Kris had left.

The only thing that was more irritating than her money woes was that funny smell that had lingered in the house since last Friday. Dani frowned even more as she got another whiff of it and made a note to buy some potpourri.

It was the first Saturday in May, and Dani was nowhere near Churchill Downs. Before her falling out with the racing board, she would have been sitting in Millionaire's Row, wearing her best hat and dreaming of sending her horse to the Kentucky Derby.

Even if it looked rainy and miserable on the television, she still wished she was there instead of having to watch NBC's crummy race coverage. She'd even settle for sitting in the grandstand wearing one of those tacky rain ponchos just to be there.

Dani had poured her first mint julep at noon and was tipsy long before post time. At the rate she was going, she was going to run out of bourbon before the horses made it to the starting gate.

[Establishy, but definitely open for anyone who wants to watch the race with her.]

Dani had managed to keep herself amused yesterday. She used to not seeing her daddy around on weekends. But what really had her annoyed was not finding her maid, her cook or her nanny.

So after she put on her favorite princess dress, she found the kitchen. She pulled some pots and pans out of cabinets and started banging on them with a wooden spoon. "I'm hungry!" she yelled, confident that she'd get someone's attention.

Dani was not missing Vince, now that he was gone, off to run around somewhere with his buddy and the money that Dani's father had given him.

No, she really did spend her days off sitting on the kitchen floor in her pajamas and eating a blueberry pie with her hands. If anyone asked, she was blaming her father for the whole mess.

She really hoped J,GOB delivered, because she wasn't planning on getting dressed and she was probably going to finish the entire pie.

[OOC: Establishy, but could be open with SP.]

Dani was so happy her new dining room table had arrived just in time for the first fancy dinner in her new house. She had food delivered from Taste of Thai and brought out her best silverware (okay, it was her only silverware at the moment). She wanted to be sure that her dad knew that she was doing very well without him and without Davis money.

Now, hopefully Vince and his friend had remembered the dress code for tonight was rather formal. Dani had reminded Vince to dress up if he was going to meet her father.

[For the invited dinner guests!]

Dani made the mistake of watching the news this morning. The latest news on that governor with the mistress from Argentina was getting her all riled up, and Dani found herself yelling at the small TV in the kitchen. "So, your mistress is your soul mate but you're trying to 'fall back in love' with your wife? For goodness sakes, just grow a pair already and get a divorce!"

She really wouldn't have paid attention if the whole situation hadn't been so similar. It's what happened to her dad, back when he left his pregnant mistress to reconcile with his pregnant wife. The discarded mistress later abandoned baby Dani with her father, forcing Ken to raise two children on his own when his wife left him, too. Dani didn't know anything about her birth mother except that the woman's first name was Marisol, she was Hispanic, and that she had worked in the stables at the Davis Ranch.

Dani wondered briefly if it was even worth taking another look to see if she could locate Marisol, but the thought of hopelessly searching for her mother again depressed her. She tried to shrug it off by brainstorming other ways to raise the extra cash she needed to purchase the new horse she wanted.

[Expecting one in particular, but Dani won't turn away other visitors. Up early for SP.]

Dani was not pleased with the job the painters had done on her kitchen. "I wanted warm and inviting. Instead, I got sunny side up!" she yelled. "This needs to be completely re-done in a much lighter shade of yellow. I want to see this room finished before you leave today." The painters rolled their eyes, but Dani was paying the bills. After checking to make sure she was happy with the new color, they went back to work.

In the meantime, Dani decided to sit out on the veranda with a magazine, making sure that the painters could still see her from the kitchen windows. She planned on checking on them repeatedly until the job was done. Just as she got settled in her lounge chair, her phone rang, with her brother's number in the Caller Id window.

In which Junior Davis makes the mistake of questioning his sister's ability to survive financially )

She hung up on him. Despite her confidence while she was on the phone, she was a little worried about what Junior had said about surviving without taking another handout from her father. Maybe she should think about renting out the extra bedrooms in this house after all.

[Establishy but open.]
