Dani had taken over the rec room with a stack of chick flicks. She also had plenty of popcorn, sodas, and even a bottle of wine since alcohol usually made bad movies a lot better. After a moment of hesitation, she also extended an invitation for her tenant to join her. Dani wasn't sure why, but she just didn't feel like watching movies alone.

And Hayley, well... she was blowing off rehearsal once she got home from her little stint at Three Minute Dates. It was fun and all, but every time she'd start to hit it off, the buzzer would ring.

And so, it was a slightly buzzed and restless Hayley that joined Dani in the rec room. She gave her landlord a grin as she saw the small spread.

"Well hey, looks like we have ourselves a little party, huh?"

"I thought it would be a nice opportunity to get to know each other a little bit better," said Dani, pouring herself a glass of wine. "You've been living here for nearly a month, right? It's about time I showed that I was more than just the person who collects your rent."

"And more than the nice woman who took me in without even asking a whole bunch of questions," Hayley said, looking at the wine for a moment before grabbing some popcorn.

She sat down on the sofa and made herself comfortable, taking a moment to make sure her black t-shirt wasn't riding up to expose her stomach, pulling the hem back down to meet her jeans.

"So what exactly do you want to know? Hobbies, turn ons, turn offs? I'm more than happy to share that stuff. I just had a bunch of short conversations like that."

"Let me guess. Three minute dates?" asked Dani, swirling her wine around in the glass and trying to keep her eyes away from Hayley's nearly-exposed midriff. "I'm sure speed dating can be useful for getting out there, but there's something to be said about taking things slowly."

"More like three minutes of build-up and no pay off," Hayley said, tossing a bit of popcorn in the air and trying to catch it in her mouth.

It instead landing down the front of her shirt, so she had to reach in and pull it out. "And I really only did it to meet new people, so I guess it worked. I really gotta get more friends that aren't in high school."

Dani couldn't help giggling as she watched Hayley fishing popcorn out of her shirt.

"At least you have friends around here? Most of mine have gone back home, except for one and I try to avoid her because I screwed up," she said. "I'm lousy at maintaining relationships, apparently."

"Me too," Hayley said, setting the popcorn aside. "Friendships and even the bigger stuff. My last boyfriend is kind of a controlling jerk at times. He's half the reason I left Gotham, now that I think of it."

She sighed a bit, toying with the neckline of her shirt. "He was a hunky jerk, though."

"Ugh," said Dani, wincing. "It's a shame that the bad sometimes outweighs the good. Take this guy I dated back home in Fremont. He was hot! And he was really into me. Unfortunately, he 'forgot' to tell me about his wife. I always seem to have that problem."

"Oh, ugh," Hayley said. "Guys are always so stupid. I swear, it's like they don't have any brains at all. Just muscles and libidos."

She sighed again, and stood up to grab some soda.

Of course, as she opened the bottle, the carbonation apparently wanted to escape with a passion, and before Hayley could tighten it again, her shirt was splashed with sugary liquid.

"Awwww, come on," she whined a bit.

Dani grabbed a handful of napkins. "Sorry! I probably should have let those bottles chill a little longer," she said. "You're all soaked! Let me help you dry off."

"I probably should just..." Hayley had no qualms about pulling off the t-shirt and wadding it up to wring it out. It left her standing there, in jeans and a red bra, the bits of cola that had made it through the fabric obvious against her pale skin.

"It probably won't stain, it's okay."

"Probably more comfortable that way. It's awfully warm in here," said Dani, fiddling with the hem of her shirt. "Heat rises, I guess. I don't usually spend that much time upstairs... Nice bra, by the way," she added, trying not to be too obvious with the staring. "All of my good lingerie is all worn out. I really should buy something new for myself."

"I always liked the color red," Hayley said, looking just a teeny bit shy for a moment. "But you're right, it has seemed a bit warm up here. I wasn't sure if it was just me or not. Not that I planned on giving you a little striptease or anything."

She laughed a little, feeling a little awkward. "Should... should I go get another shirt?"

"If you want to," said Dani, twirling a lock of hair between her fingers. "But don't think you have to get dressed on my account if you're more comfortable this way."

"Just wanted to make sure this didn't make you uncomfortable," Hayley said, setting her shirt aside, spreading it out to help it dry. She paused for a moment in front of Dani on her way back towards the couch.

"I... you sure you're okay with this?" she said.

"I'm very much okay with it. Doesn't bother me at all," said Dani, just barely stopping herself from suggesting that she could take her shirt off, too.

Apparently that long gallop yesterday hadn't done enough to get the pollen out of her system.

"Well, if you insist," Hayley said, finally moving to go sit back down. And she might have just grazed right up against Dani as she moved.

"I don't do this, normally," she pointed out, once she'd settled back in. "The sitting around in my underwear, I mean. I wouldn't want you to think I was... I don't know." She paused for a moment, licking her lips absentmindedly. "You gonna come sit down, too?"

"Oh, right," said Dani, jolted out of her current train of thoughts. She sat down next to Hayley, but made sure to keep a few inches of space between them -- for now, at least.

"Can I confess something? After my last housemate moved out, I started hanging out around the house in my underwear just because I could," said Dani with a smirk. "It was kind of fun."

"See, that sounds like fun, if it isn't cold," Hayley said with a bit of a giggle. "Though why not go all the way? If no one's around, no one's gonna complain if you're all naked."

She grinned and even leaned over to playfully nudge her shoulder against Dani's.

"It was especially nice to keep cool when it was too hot outside," agreed Dani. She blushed a little bit when Hayley's shoulder touched hers and started rambling to distract herself from the sensation. "Though it doesn't feel very cold right now. Seriously, what is with the thermostat? I really should get it checked out because it is way too warm up here."

"I think it's gotta be the island," Hayley said. "I felt warm down at the bar, too. I'm still warm and I'm shirtless, I don't even know what's happening."

She looked over at Dani, found her eyes lingering at the woman's hips, breasts, neck, and lips before she finally managed to force herself to make eye contact. Her breath hitched a moment. "Though it doesn't feel all that bad, if you think about it."

"Something like this has happened to me once before since coming to Fandom," said Dani, feeling a bit flushed. "And it was certainly very enjoyable. I, uh, had no idea that I had so much stamina."

"You..." Hayley's eyes went a little wide, her tongue darting out again to wet her lips. "Well gee, a statement like that almost seems like, like a boast."

Her hand clutched over her heart, her breath having gone a bit hot and shallow.

"I'm pretty sure I could back up that claim if I had to," said Dani, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

Hayley couldn't help herself, she quickly replied. "Well gee, I think I'll have to ask you to do so," she said. "I mean, in the name of science or something. I have to investigate."

That was entirely how science worked. At least to Hayley.

"Anytime you want a demonstration, I'm up for it," said Dani. "I don't make promises I can't keep."

"I'm already practically half naked over here," Hayley said with a laugh. "Is there really going to be a better time for this? Or do I gotta spill some soda on you first?"

She totally would, too.

"No, I don't think it will have to come to that. It is pretty unfair of me to leave you sitting there without your top without reciprocating," said Dani, laughing. And to even things up, she pulled off her top. "There. Is that better?"

"It's a start," Hayley said. She scooted over to close most of those inches that separated her and Dani on the couch. She reached out with a hand, trailing her fingers up and down the other woman's arm.

"But you were right, earlier. Some things are a lot better when you take 'em slow."
