Danielle Davis will be arriving in town shortly, and I'd like to tell you a little bit about her first. She'll insist on being called Dani, except if she doesn't like you and in that case, it's Miss Davis.
Dani is from a show called "Wildfire" that ran for four seasons on ABC Family. It was notable for helping launch the career of Genevieve Cortese, who played a female jockey caught in a love triangle with two boys from rival stables. But this post isn't about her. The show got its name from the racehorse that heroine Kris Furillo formed a bond with while serving time in a juvenile detention camp. When her sentence is up, Kris was offered a stable hand job by Pablo Betart, a volunteer who was head trainer at Raintree Farms.
At Raintree, Kris met stable owner Jean Ritter and her son, Matt. Even though he had an on-again off-again relationship with rich debutante Dani Davis, Matt immediately fell for Kris. Dani turned to her brother, Ken "Junior" Davis, for help in getting Kris out of her way. Junior was instructed to seduce Kris, but then he fell in love with Kris too. Poor Kris was left to try and handle her relationships with both guys while earning Jean's trust and trying to stay out of Dani's reach.
This was originally a teen show, but the teens grew up fairly quickly and by the second season, Dani broke away from her father to start own racing stable and Junior moved out and opened a night club. The Davis kids returned to the fold when their dad was arrested on fraud charges stemming from some shady business deals. They took over the family business only to find that Ken Sr. left them with no cash to keep the farm running. That's when Dani took charge and found a wealthy heiress to buy out Junior's share of the farm, providing her with the cash to get the stable back on track.
Eventually, Ken was acquitted and he set up some phony corporation to buy out the heiress. Dani still held slightly more than 50% of the farms assets, giving her a control. Then Kris, desperate for cash to save the Ritters from financial trouble, agreed to race Wildfire in an illegal match race. Junior entered one of the Davis horses as well without Dani's permission. She anonymously called the authorities in a scheme to get Kris arrested but the plan backfired. The state racing board accused Dani of entering an unsanctioned race, and Dani's father persuaded her to publicly take the blame and surrender her racing license. Without that, she was forced to sell her half of the farm back to her father.
That's when a very pissed-off Dani threw some bags in her Mercedes Benz convertible and hit the road. She came across Kris, who was heading to the bus station after being fired by Jean and Pablo, and decided to give her a ride out of town. That decision would save Dani's life. She was driving recklessly as she ranted about how her family didn't appreciate her enough and would miss her when she was gone. It was Kris who spotted the obstruction in the road and yanked the wheel when Dani was too busy yelling to notice. The car was totaled, but the girls survived without injury. From that point on, Dani became Kris's best ally.
In canon, Dani would go on to open a veterinary clinic for racehorses, but instead, I'm taking her from just after the accident to come to Fandom and take over The Gig. There's a lot more to the show that I'm leaving out, because otherwise this post would go on forever, but I recommend checking out the IMDb page for "Wildfire" as many of the actors are recognizable from other fandoms.
I'm going to apologize right off the bat for anything Dani says. She's fiery, outspoken, and has a very sharp tongue. She's vulnerable on the inside but has a tough exterior for protection and will be coming off a huge personal disappointment and the death of a boyfriend just months before losing her racing license.
Nothing about The Gig is going to change except the exterior paint color, although Dani might bring in an extra horse or two. She'll also be adding a children's petting zoo on certain weekends because Gmail kept showing me adds for baby horses when I was talking to people about my ideas for Dani.
And finally, about me: I'm Thena. I play
montecito_east,
itsjustlanguage,
lordofthecats and
chic_harper. I'm in Central Time but I'm a chronic insomniac work works evenings, so I may post at odd hours sometimes. I'm always reachable by e-mail or Twitter if you have questions, plot ideas or just need to be enabled. I'm usually around on AIM as MaryHoshi or HazDaddyIssues, though I'm looking for suggestions for a new screen name.
