23 Griffin Way, Saturday Afternoon

It was the first Saturday in May, and Dani was nowhere near Churchill Downs. Before her falling out with the racing board, she would have been sitting in Millionaire's Row, wearing her best hat and dreaming of sending her horse to the Kentucky Derby.

Even if it looked rainy and miserable on the television, she still wished she was there instead of having to watch NBC's crummy race coverage. She'd even settle for sitting in the grandstand wearing one of those tacky rain ponchos just to be there.

Dani had poured her first mint julep at noon and was tipsy long before post time. At the rate she was going, she was going to run out of bourbon before the horses made it to the starting gate.

[Establishy, but definitely open for anyone who wants to watch the race with her.]

"Horse racing," Price commented, mostly stopping from a trip to the kitchen. "The big one's today, right?"

"I think technically two minutes in sport are always the same length. Unless we're slowing down time, which I wouldn't put it past this island."

"...maybe you should sit back down," Price said. "I can play bartender, if you like."

"Do you want a drink or pie?" Price said. "Because I'm warning you right now, you don't want me baking."

"...the pie I saw in the fridge?" Price said, remembering. "Well, I suppose I can muster up a slice. How big do you like it?"

"The whole pie, coming right up," Price said, walking back to the kitchen. He returned with the whole pie and a fork, which he held out for Dani.

"Ask, and ye shall receive."

"I hope you bet on the winner," Price said, settling in to watch as well. "It'd be silly to bet on anyone else."

He thought he was funny.

"Well, here's hoping you got your money's worth," Price said. "Not much of a gambler, myself. But, to each their own."

"Sorry, don't know which one you're looking for. Horse breeding wasn't a subject I thought I needed to learn in the SAS," Price said.

"Are you quite alright?" Price said. "Never seen a lady craving so much pie before."

Mainly because you've spent most of the last five years alone, John.

"An entire bottle?" Price said. "I'm now impressed you're still conscious."
