Event: LAUNDRY STRIKE

Hello, Fandom! Are you feeling nice and secure on your weirdness-free island? Well, too bad. Because from Monday, July 7th, through Friday, July 11th, Fandom is experiencing a LAUNDRY STRIKE.

That means that none of the washers or dryers will work all week - while temperatures rise and the amount of Clothing Incidents (tm) increase rapidly. Yes, there will be random mud pools around the island, and flocks of birds with GI problems, and - of course - the pizza is extra drippy this week.

And just to improve everyone's tempers, Friday night will see an island-wide fire drill. (Posted in the AM on Friday, so everyone can play all day.) Hope you still have some decent PJs left, everyone.

Lana's Alderaan, Thursday Evening

People'd be less impressed by the thrantas if they knew how karking stupid they were. Yeah, Jack had flown one once or twice as a kid; it was hard to grow up on this planet without it. But he viscerally remembered the stupid look in the thing's eyes, the way it would get distracted.

And his dad, grumbling about the wasted money the day after. Sitting in a chair at the medcenter, waiting for the kolto patches to be removed from Jaq's arms.

It'd been a long day out here. There wasn't much left of the town he'd grown up in. It'd been relentlessly renovated, older buildings removed and replaced with new, prettier ornate synthstone. If he had to take a guess, he assumed the people he'd grown up with had been priced out of the neighborhood.

Sorry, 'moved to more suitable housing'. It was Alderaan, after all.

And then they'd headed out, towards the mountains, a little more like the hiking trips they took back on Earth. But the mountains were taller and more majestic, and every once in a while, a thranta herd would come out from behind a snowy peak, and fly past the sun, and the sunlight would reflect on its wings, and Jack-- well, Jack wanted to grab a pebble and throw it out there with the Force. See if he could nail one.

But he wasn't the only one there, and he knew it was an immature reflex. )

WTFH - Fandom Radio [Thurs, July 3rd]

No.

*chittering*

We've had this discussion before.

*chittering*

It's not 'totally different' if you're 'just storing them'. No fireworks inside the station. If you really want to explode yourselves, do it outside. After you give me the notes.

Let's see, no classes of any kind up at the School, though it was a beach day in the Library, much to Cal and Gray's confusion when they came by to visit Arden.

The Dorms were quiet. Again. While in Town, Adrian was convinced he was being watched at Pick Your Poison, I'd suggest it was paranoia, but I do have all these notes about Rey trying to help him, and Lydia also making an appearance. Speaking of appearances, Raiden was all over the streets hanging up flyers for his new breakfast place. Finally, it was something of a mango theme at Caritas, though sadly, Tino was not a man gone. Summer texted, while Stark was glad Anakin had taken the week off, and Rey was asked for 'jello life choice opinions'.

*muffled explosions*

Outside the station, not outside the booth.

Pixie Dust; Thursday [07/03].

"No Boc today?"

Luma frowned a little when she came in to work that day; she was used to catching the little demi-human in the morning, before he scampered off to his Breakfast class, but since they were between classes, she was sort of looking forward to getting to spend a little more time with him. Yes, sure, she teased him an awful lot because he was just so skittish and frightened of nearly everything, but she liked him, and they could talk about embroidery and sewing and things like that and she found where he was from, based on what he'd shared with her, fascinating. And it was just nice, really, to have someone so clearly not entirely human, like herself, to just exist with.

So she was disappointed that he'd already apparently gone out, but then the other clerk mentioned that they hadn't actually seen him all week. When the concern deepened on her face, though, they reassured her that he'd probably just turned into a tree in the woods again.

Apparently, that was a thing he just did sometimes??

But Luma was still suspicious and worried, so she supposed she was going to be spending some time later to see if she could sniff out a Boc-scented tree. Would he smell different? She supposed she'd find out, but, as it were, even if she did work well enough while she was there today, she was distracted most of the time.

Pixie Dust is open!

Stark Tower Writ Small - Birthday Bash - Thursday Evening

The ballroom was all done up in appropriately red, white, and blue bunting. Because bunting felt very Steve if you asked Tony. And Tony was the one picking the decorations for this one. Sorry, Steve.

There were a few fireworks themed chandeliers set up in the center of the room to drive home the celebration as well. And a wide selection of foods that Steve liked most. So all the foods. It was all the foods, but straight-forward stuff (burger bar, taco bar, hot dog bar, ice cream sundae bar with a chocolate fountain (because who didn't want a chocolate fountain on their birthday?)), and not appetizer portions. And pie! Either because Steve liked pie or because Tony thought it was hilarious.

Or both.

And after all of that, there would be a birthday cake with a truly obnoxious number of candles and a 'fireworks' show that was visible from the ballroom windows if you didn't want to brave a trip to the roof. It was actually a drone show because Tony was Tony. And the noise would be something else if they did actual fireworks.

The Photo Hut - Thursday

After the last couple of weeks, Liz had been able to get a somewhat decent amount of sleep. She was still a bit tired but was feeling a lot better as she came downstairs to try and get some work done after not getting as much finished over the last couple of weeks. Since she had to work on setting up spreadsheets and reports for the month and answer a few emails, she was managing to stay focused and quite busy for that morning.

Summer was already feeling a little restless that week, as one might expect when one had a RageFest sized carrot dangled in front of them on the way to a new possible business prospect, and it really didn't help that Tino, although he didn't say anything, was giving her a look as she set up her specials board that week.

"What?" she said. "We had a lot of mango at the store this week! You think I'm happy about that? I don't even like mango all that much!"

And now Tino was really looking at her like she was crazy.

Streets of Fandom, Wednesday Morning

The final touches were being put on the property at 79 Godiva Street and the kitchen was being stocked, so there was nothing left to do now but announce it.

With fliers, as was traditional, which was why Raiden could be found around town on Wednesday morning putting those fliers up, and occasionally pausing to dither over whether he'd put them at an appropriate eye level for someone who wasn't approximately the size of a commercial fridge.

GRAND OPENING!!!
Join us Sunday, July 6 to celebrate the opening of

Serving breakfast & brunch!
Bottomless brunch cocktails!
Featuring Will It Waffle? Wednesdays!

He should have brought Gray along to provide a more appropriate eye level gauge. Some of these might be too low. Some were definitely too high. But Raiden was out here doin' his best.

Fandom Radio, July 2, 2025

Good morning, everyone, it's Captain Steve Rogers a few days early. Stark--the other Stark--was unavailable today.

Since it's a break week, we're pretty quiet on the island and I can assure you that the park is safe to walk through today. We didn't have classes yesterday, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at paintball next week!

In town, Liliana was at the diner for her weekly--

*chittering*

--I am not calling it a "booty call." Her lunch date with Ignis. Stark asked Gladio at the gym for hobby ideas--Tino at Caritas' new hobby is apparently blending things--and gardening is always a good choice too. Pam was helping her plants get through the heat wave. Jaina was in the Perk drinking coffee and reading and both of those would also be hobbies, though in my household drinking coffee is more of a personality trait than a hobby.

Party planning could also be a hobby, and so I hope you all can make it to my party tomorrow. Tony's really gone to a lot of effort for it. Have a great day!

Pick Your Poison, Wednesday

Adrian peered cautiously into the store, trying to find any hint of...weirdness. No decorations that he could see, nothing singing annoying songs, no random bags of chips tucked away anywhere.

Or, well, none of those things right now.

He moved inside, carefully, step by tentative step, head on a swivel. So far...so good...?

Nothing on his way through the aisles. Nothing as he stepped behind the register.

Nothing at all.

Nothing. At. All.

But during his shift, why did it feel like someone watching him?

Fandom Library, Wednesday, July 2nd

There was a weird beach tableau happening in the library today. Books - beach reads, obviously - were lounging around, while Beach Boys played from some portable speakers. Some books rested on towels, some wear floaties around their covers, a few are clustered around a couple of different coolers. Arden had no idea of what could even be in those coolers. What snacks and beverages would books even bring to the beach?

Not curious enough to actually tread into their space, mind.

At least not until she saw a pair of books with a bottle of suntan lotion between them, the paper cover pulled slightly askew. "Okay, absolutely not!" she called. "We do not put lotion onto the books!"

The Perk- Tuesday afternoon

Jaina had mixed feelings about the fact that they were still here. She didn't mind it. The kids were having fun, Jag wasn't as stressed, she didn't have to deal with the Empire. But this wasn't normal life, either.

Plus there was still a threat out there, and Jaina wasn't getting annoyed that she wasn't aware of any progress on that. Maybe she needed to make a visit. If she was the target of anything, good luck to them, so she wasn't worried about that. And in the meantime she'd take some time at a table with coffee and a datapad to check over some reports on what was going on over there.

Pick Your Poison, Tuesday

The heat would not be kind to some of the plants in Pick Your Poison's garden; Pam knew as much. So she'd spent some time moving some items around, putting up some sheets to create more areas of shade.

Yes, oftentimes, it was best to let nature do her own work. But sometimes - like in these times of manmade disaster - you had to help her.

The store was open. The correct sign was on the door. If anyone needed Pam, though, she'd be in the garden, checking on all the plants, making a note of which to water later, when the sun went down.

Hey there Fandom, it's me, ya girl, Arden Finch, welcoming you into July by telling you all the cool things that we did to finish up June. Which, judging by the size of this stack, isn't really much? Because we're all on vacation, being beach bums, right?

*chittering*

...Or obsessively listening to a single band on repeat. Thank you, squirrels, very vital for you to have brought that up.

Anyway, With nothing happening in School or the Dorms, it was just stuff in Town that rates a mention. We start with Vi changing back from being a kitten over Pride weekend, and anything that happened between her and Steph after that is their business, not ours. Professor Vess was arguing with a crystal ball in the Infinite Consortium, I guess because she didn't like her fortune, probably? Mystery Sign Theater 3000 was showing What Can A Girl Do? and Mayor Faden came by to catch the movie and tease Mr. Barnes about stereotypes and candy. That's...not a very descriptive note, rodents. Pizza Planet saw Raiden putting in orders for a metric BLEEPton of eggs and potatoes....I'm guessing for his new breakfast place? But that's just a guess, there's a holiday coming up, he might be making a kiddie pool's worth of potato salad.

*chittering*

No, I have faith that Raiden wouldn't put raisins or blueberries in his potato salad. He's a Nephilim, not a monster. Professor James Stark bought out the last of the Pride pastries and brought them to the Clinic nurses, and Officer McGarrett was looking at emails at the Trooper Station. The squirrels are making a big deal about him not answering any, but who amongst us has not read an email and decided to just deal with it all later. I click mine back to 'unread' so that it stays at the time of my email. Also, if I get too many unread emails, I start getting twitchy. Fun Finch Facts that nobody asked for! And, lastly, Tiny was making drinks with sparklers in them, and Mr. Northman was nearby with a fire extinguisher to make sure that Devil's Nest didn't end up burning down.

And that's it for this radio! So long Fandom, this is ya girl, Arden Finch, leaving you with How It's Done by Huntr/x! Have a great day!

It didn't take Ignis very long at all to notice a slight difference in the kitchen, when he came into work that day, getting his coffee ready and preparing for thinking up some new recipehs for the specials board. He took a moment to pause and listen, though, before making any comment about it, but, feeling confident, he lifted a brow toward the rest of the staff.

"No Greg today?" he asked.

Apparently, he had a dentist appointment that day, which meant that Ignis could only give him distant kudos for his acceptable levels of dental hygene, but then Ignis also couldn't help notice that the patchouli did still linger, even in his absense, which was why he, for a moment, doubted himself.

Everyone else, it seemed, just were eager to see how this altered their odds when it came to the betting board.

SUMMER 2025 (SESSION 2) WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Second Session Summer 2025 Workshops! These sign-ups are open to EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

And now we get to what you really want to see: Summer Workshops! (Session 2)!!!!

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Saturday, July 5, 2025, and are IG knowledge.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. Questions or difficulties, please email us - fandomhighadmins (@) iambicnut.com - or drop a question in the Questions thread down below.

PLEASE HOLD WHILE I OCD Go ahead!

Fandom Radio, Monday June 30th

Hello from Greece, where apparently even being on holiday does not absolve me of my duties regarding the news.

The entirety of which is centered around yesterday's Pride Parade in Town, organized by our own wonderful Miss Stephanie Gingrich.

There was a spot for folks to get ready, followed by the parade itself, full of decorated rickshaws and marchers. And of course along the route there were spots to observe the proceedings, which Stark, Steven, and I took advantage of. And of course following all that there was the Post-Parade Park Picnic, which the squirrels would like me to ask you to 'say five times really fast'. Naturally, given that the picnic boasted cupcakes, Stark was there to partake.

And that's all that was noteworthy about yesterday, I'll see you next week.
